Confession of Faith
Our faith is summed up in the words of the Creed
(Nicaea/Constantinople)
We believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him, all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
We confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
What we Believe
The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible, i.e. the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 of the New Testament, is the divinely inspired Word of God.
The Church
We believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church, i.e. the innumerable multitude of believers of every age and every nation, who, united by the Holy Spirit with Christ as their head, form one body in Him and have communion with their Lord and with each other.
The Triune God
We believe that there is a God who created the world with His word and created man in His image and likeness. That he is a triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
The Divinity
of our Lord
We believe in the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ and in his incarnation by the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin. We believe in His sinless life, His miraculous power, His death on the cross for the salvation of sinful man, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension, and His glorious second coming.
The Ministry of
the Holy Spirit
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit through whom the sinner is regenerated, lives the pious Christian life and with His power and gifts, serves and carries out the Holy will of God.
Salvation by Faith
We believe that man is by nature sinful and separated from God and that it is impossible for him to enter the kingdom of God and be saved by his works, except through faith in the blessed person and redeeming work of Jesus Christ. By faith the sinner accepts Christ, trusts in Him and rests for his salvation in Him alone.
